english education

This redeveloped website is designed to facilitate a rich professional conversation about all aspects of English teaching. Such a conversation emerges from the active and critical participation of a widely diverse English/literacy teaching community. This includes pre-service teachers, teacher educators and practising teachers (including past Monash graduates) and the students they teach in schools. The website is intended, initially, to address the needs and backgrounds of a diverse group of students enrolled in a BEd (4th year) or Dip. Ed. Course.

Students

rich resources

Of course, one purpose of the website is to provide a rich source of knowledge and resources for learning about English/Literacy Teaching and teachers. Aligned with this purpose, is another, just as important purpose: the website is designed to be a dynamic, interactive ‘space’, a space where members of the English/literacy teaching community can engage in lively, interactive, critical inquiry about existing knowledge and resources. Beyond that, the website provides a forum for collaborative sharing and critiquing of ‘new’ knowledge and resources. These are the knowledge and resources you and others will be developing throughout the learning journey that all teachers are engaged in. We hope that you enjoy this new space, and that your learning journey is a fulfilling and satisfying one.

" The chief mark of the profession is that it is responsible, and is recognised as responsible, for itself as the body to which the community entrusts its interests in one particular field"
